  • What is a 14'er?

That is a very good guestion.

A 14'er is a mountain that exceeds 14,000 feet in elevation above sea level. There are 547 14'ers in the World. In Colorado we have 53 14'ers. That is more than any other state in the United States of America.

Climbing a 14'er takes determination and perseverance. When there is somthing that someone is trying to accomplish, these are valuable traits to have. With determination you have to try hard and work until you succeed at your goals. Perseverance means to never give up even though the task may become difficult.

Some of the challenges in climbing a 14'er are making sure you have the right equipment and have conditioned your body for the difficult climb. People work hard to prepare themselves to climb 14'ers.
